Kevin Escobar Urrutia, Program Director 

Kevin Escobar is a 2015-2019 alumni of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars. He has been an active member in his community since 2006. One of his community involvement include him volunteering at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fontana, CA. As an AB540 (undocumented) college student, Kevin has learned to overcome many challenges, including leaving his family behind in Georgia in order to pursue his academic goals as an undocumented student in California. Kevin's goal is to graduate with a Bachelors of Arts degree in Mathematics with an emphasis in Teaching from California State University, San Bernardino. Recently, in July 2016, he joined the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship program with the intentions of helping many students achieve and succeed academically in high school and college. Kevin work with his community in order to help providing scholarship award opportunities to high school and college students. He desires to help increase the number of students who obtain a higher education. Read Biography

Angel HuanteGraphic Designer

 Angel Huante joined the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship team in March 2013 as the first graphic designer intern. He was recommended by a program called Bright Prospect in Pomona, California to the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars when an announcement was made that the foundation was searching for a graphic designer. Since the moment Angel has joined the internship team, he has impressed the board members and interns with his talented skills of graphic designing and his humble heart to serve his community. His most current desires is for the board, interns, donors and sponsors to hear the stories of the scholars and alumni of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars. Angel is a current student at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He will graduate in the fall of 2016 as a graphic design major. Angel hopes to continue to grow as a leader for the well being of his community and inspire the youth to want to also care and give back to their community. Read Biography 

Nadia CastilloExecutive Assistant 

As an AB450 (undocumented) college student, she has faced and overcame many financial challenges on how to pay for her college tuition and fees. Due to her passion for higher education, she was able to obtain her dream of being the first in her family to attend college. Nadia is a leader in her community; she served as secretary for the Dreamers Club at Chaffey College. In the Dreamers Club, she helps AB540 students in her campus. Nadia joined the internship team of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars in the summer of 2016 with hopes of helping students from low income communities receiving scholarship awards in order to get closer to their college goals. Nadia is the Executive Assistant for the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars and is dedicated to empower herself and community. Read Biography

Maria Ramos,  Program Director

As an alumni of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars, Maria Ramos has been involved with her community since the summer of 2011. As an AB540 (undocumented) college student, Maria has faced and overcame many financial challenges on how to pay for her college tuition and fees. Due to her passion for higher education, she was able to obtain her dream of being the first in her family to attend and graduate from a four year university as an undocumented woman. Maria joined the internship team of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars in the fall of 2012 with hopes of helping students from low income communities receive scholarship awards and wanting to see their dreams of attending and graduating from a four year university come true. John TominesSocial Media and Marketing

John Luis Tomines received the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars Scholarship in the year 2012. Due to his passion in wanting to be involve with his community, he joined the internship team of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars in the fall of 2012 with hopes of helping connect students to leaders in his community. He met many leaders that care and invest in First Generation College students such as himself. Throughout his experience as an intern, he was able to discover his leadership skills and abilities through the mentorship offered from board members and interns. John recently graduated from Chaffey College in the spring of 2016 and is now a transfer student at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. He plans to pursue a bachelor's degree in marketing and graduate in the spring of 2018. John also hopes to community. His most current desires is for the board, interns, donors and sponsors to hear the stories of the scholars and alumni of the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars.  Joanna RamosCo-Lead

Joanna Ramos started volunteering with the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars since the summer of 2013. As a first generation college student, she has faced many challenges in applying for college admissions and financial aid. With the support of her community, she was one of the first females in her family to attend a four year university. Due to her desires to get more involve with her community leaders and students, she decided to join the Espeanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship team in the summer of 2014. Joanna assists in the planning of events such as the January Toyota Leadership, Mayor's Gala and October Tardeada. She enjoys providing a warm welcoming to scholars, alumni, interns, board members, and guests during the events. Her goal is to continue to encourage the youth in her community to network with leadership within their community. She believes in the importance of a supportive and united community.  Joanna plans to graduate from California State University, San Bernardino in the fall of 2017 with a major in Biological Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice. Read Biography

Javier FacundoCo-Lead

Growing up, Javier had several mentors from his community that motivated and encouraged him to succeed and become a leader. Due to his experiences with his mentors, he is a strong believer in mentoring others so that they can learn how to become leaders. Javier strong believes in giving back to his community and helping others achieve their goals lead him to start his involvement with the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars in 2011 as a volunteer. Later, in the summer of 2014, he joined the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship team. As an intern, he assures that all the community events hosted by the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars team is focused on the scholars and alumni. He desires that in these community events each guest attending is encouraged to become a leader, especially the scholars and alumni. As an intern, he has also developed the ability to network with community leaders, plan and organize community events, outreach to high schools, and professionally communicate with members of the community. Javier is currently attending California State University, San Bernardino and is expected to graduate in the spring of 2017 with a major in Psychology. Read Biography

Isabel RodriguezAssociate Lead

Isabel Rodriguez joined the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship team since the summer of 2016. She decided to join the internship team with the purpose to help her community. As a current California State University, San Bernardino college student, she is grateful to all the sponsors and programs that believed in her college dreams by providing her scholarship awards. As a result, she is studying to get her Bachelor Degree of Arts in Psychology. She desires to continue her education until she obtains her Ph D. She hopes to contribute to the Esperanza Scholarship Foundation Dollars for Scholars internship team by helping host events and professionally represent the foundation. Read Biography
